Why is my mouse not working with my laptop?

I've been using an MSI GL65 9SFK laptop with Windows 11, and suddenly my gaming mouse, which has been fine for four years, just stopped working. The sensor is the issue because the lights and buttons are still functional. I even tried using a different wireless mouse that was working fine until today, but it also broke. Both mice show up in device settings as working devices. I tried uninstalling the software for my gaming mouse, deleted the HiD-compliant mouse from Device Manager, and noticed my touchpad is working, but I'm unsure whether my laptop damaged the mice or if they are just broken. There's also an error code 24 with the Synaptics PS/2 port compatible touchpad. Should I buy a new mouse, or is there something else I should try to fix this?

Have you tried plugging the mouse into a different device to see if it works there? Sometimes it could just be a compatibility issue with your laptop. If it still doesn't work on another device, it might be time to consider getting a new one.

Thanks for the suggestion! I did try it on another laptop, and the mouse still wouldn’t work there either.
