I'm looking for some solid recommendations on RAM to pair with my Ryzen 7 9700X. I want to prioritize functionality over looks, so I'm curious about the best speeds and latency to aim for. Any advice?

I've had good performance with 6000 CL30 on my setup as well. It seems to hit the sweet spot for this processor without the headaches of overclocking.
For the Ryzen 7 9700X, aiming for 6000 MHz with a CL30 latency is ideal. Anything faster can complicate the setup because it can shift your memory controller to a 2:1 mode, which might actually slow things down. Moreover, CL30 is fairly affordable, and while CL28 is an option, the price difference usually isn't justified. Stick with just two DIMMs for the best performance—like 2x16GB or 2x32GB, depending on how much capacity you need.
Thanks a lot for the advice! I found some 2x16GB 6000 CL30 kits that are reasonably priced, so I’ll go with that.
Yeah, 32GB is generally the sweet spot for gaming. If your PSU supports it, going above that can be fine too.
