I'm putting together my first PC build and I'm considering the MSI MAG X870 Tomahawk WiFi motherboard. I plan to pair it with an RTX 5070 Ti and an AMD Ryzen 9 7900X. Is this motherboard a good fit for my setup, or would you recommend a different one?

If you want all the features, the X870 will suit you well! I have the same board and I’m using it with the 5070 Ti. The 7900X is a great pick, but just make sure it fits your needs—if you're doing both gaming and 3D modeling, it might be the right choice for you!

I plan to use the PC for both gaming and 3D modeling, so that's why I was recommended the Ryzen 9 7900X.

The MSI MAG X870 is a solid choice, but keep in mind it might be a bit of overkill, especially for a gaming setup. You might want to consider cheaper B850 boards, which offer better value. The X870 mainly adds USB 4.0 support, but that comes with some compromises. If you're mainly gaming, save the cash and think about either a 6 or 8-core CPU instead of the 7900X, or go all out with the 7900X3D or 9800X3D.
