I purchased a Mac mini during the pandemic, and it recently had a motherboard failure. I really just need to recover my files because everything is organized there and I'm familiar with the layout. I'm worried that my data is gone for good. Is there any hope for retrieving my files?

It's a bummer to hear about the motherboard issues. If your data is really crucial, I'd recommend checking if you have a backup somewhere, even like iCloud or an external drive. You never know!

I do have backups in a few places, but my files were all organized in the Mac mini. I knew exactly where everything was.

What model of Mac mini do you have? Honestly, if the motherboard is fried, it can be tricky, but some data recovery specialists might be able to help you. Don’t lose hope yet!

It was an older model, and unfortunately, my backup disk failed too. I was trying to get a new hard drive when everything went south.
