How Can I Escape Tutorial Hell?

I've been stuck in tutorial hell for four years, where I've spent countless hours on courses and certifications but still can't land a full-time job. I began my journey into web development and cloud computing during the pandemic, but I never built anything substantial. After a couple of years, I switched to networking and earned certifications like AWS and CCNA, thinking that would boost my employment chances. Unfortunately, as remote jobs dwindled and competition grew, I realized the tutorials didn't prepare me for real-world challenges. I kept watching more tutorials, trying to build cloned projects, but companies weren't interested in that. Now, I'm trying to shift my focus to learning DSA, contributing to open-source, and building actual projects from the ground up. I'm hoping to learn from my failures and improve, but I'd love some advice on how to break free from this cycle and start making real progress.

I think there's a difference when it comes to learning from documentation. Using resources like guides for libraries can be productive as long as you’re doing something with it, like building a project. Just be cautious not to jump from one language to another; mastering one will give you a stronger foundation.

You really can't just rely on tutorials or school projects alone. You need to focus on building real-world applications that highlight your skills and knowledge. Showcase your ability to solve actual problems rather than just replicating what you've learned.

It sounds like you're struggling with interviews more than just getting called in. In India, many companies place a heavy emphasis on DSA, and that might be why you’re facing challenges. Focus on enhancing your interview skills and understanding the expectations. Your certs are valuable, but you might need to better convey how you can apply your knowledge during interviews.

If you're serious about breaking free from tutorial hell, you need to start coding everything from scratch. Try to approach tutorials not just as step-by-step instructions but as exercises in problem-solving. Understand principles like OOP and SOLID. While DSA is important, developing a creative problem-solving mindset is key to becoming a proficient developer.
