Is the Asrock Steel Legend 9070 XT a Good Choice for My First Build?

I built my first PC a few months ago, and I'm finally looking to add a GPU now that prices have settled a bit. I've decided on the 9070 XT, specifically the Steel Legend version. My main concern is whether the Steel Legend is a solid card for what I want to do. I plan to use it for 1440p gaming at max settings, as well as for 1440p video editing. I'll also be undervolting the GPU since I don't intend to play in 4K. Essentially, I'll be gaming for about 6-7 hours, primarily at max settings for a few months. Here are my current specs: Ryzen 5 7600, 32 GB RAM, Ant Esport Air 211 case, Cooler Master Hyper 212 Spectrum v3 cooler, Cooler Master Gold v2 750w power supply, and MSI B650M Gaming WiFi motherboard.

The Steel Legend does run a bit hotter than other 9070 XTs, but it's all within normal operating range. If you're worried about aesthetics or performance, other versions like the Sapphire Pure are worth considering if you're okay with different looks. Just so you know, the price can vary, so keep that in mind!

Will undervolting help with the temperature issue?

Honestly, from what I’ve seen, a lot of other models are cheaper right now than the Asrock. You might have plenty of options!

You should be just fine with the Steel Legend. It handles 1440p gaming well, especially for the duration you mentioned. Just keep an eye on temperatures, but it should serve your needs without any issues! Check out this review for more details: https://www.techpowerup.com/review/asrock-radeon-rx-9070-steel-legend-oc/

I thought so too, but I heard some say it’s a bit cheap-looking? What do you think?
