How can I speed up my old HP Pavilion laptop?

I've been using my HP Pavilion 15-cc123cl since my high school days, and now that I'm running my own business, I really want to boost its performance without shelling out for a new MacBook. Besides reformatting, what are some effective ways to enhance its speed? It plays a big role in my video editing, backend work, and photo editing. Here are some specs for context: 15.6-inch touchscreen, Intel Core i5-8250U, 12 GB RAM, 1 TB HDD, and Windows 10 Home. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Switching to Linux could be a solid option too! It's usually lighter than Windows, which means it won't slow your laptop down as much. Just a thought!

Definitely check if you can upgrade to Windows 11 first; just go into Settings -> Update. If you can’t get Windows 11, consider going for Linux Mint. As for performance, definitely start with upgrading to an SSD — it makes a huge difference. If you've done that and still want more, look into boosting your RAM as well.

Swapping out the hard drive for an SSD will give you the biggest speed boost. It's a game changer!

Here’s a step-by-step plan: 1) Upgrade to an SSD, which will make a huge difference in speed. 2) Max out your RAM if you haven’t already. 3) If your system supports it, consider upgrading to Windows 11. 4) Honestly, if these upgrades don't help enough, it might be time to look at a new laptop. Just saying!

Right? Sometimes it's just not worth sinking more money into an older model!
