I'm thinking about selling my 4090 for $2K because I have a few interested buyers. Right now, I have a 10th gen i5 CPU paired with it, but I'm considering using the money to build a new PC with a new AMD CPU and a 5080 Suprim Liquid GPU. After selling the 4090, I would only need to fork out an additional $150. Is this upgrade worth it?

I suggest saving up for an AM5 setup, like the 7700 or 9700 combo. You can always upgrade to an X3D CPU when you're ready without the hassle of losing your current GPU.
If you're set on upgrading, maybe consider a cheaper 5080 to minimize your costs. That way, you're not sinking too much cash into the upgrade.
You should definitely think twice. The prices for 4090s are still high, maybe even more than what you paid back in 2022. Selling it just seems like a bit of a loss in the long run.
In gaming performance, the 4090 still outranks the 5080, so it might not be the best upgrade if you're focused on graphics. But if you're playing CPU-intensive games, selling your GPU and shifting to AM5 could be worth the $150. Just check if your games are more dependent on CPU or GPU!
Switching from a 4090 to a 5080 doesn’t seem like a great idea since the 5080 doesn’t offer a significant boost over the 5070 Ti. However, if you can get an AM5 system for just $150, that's a solid deal! You might even want to consider opting for a 5070 Ti instead to keep things budget-friendly.
Exactly! It's crucial to know what your primary gaming needs are before making any switches.
