How to Enable ‘Reject Direct Send’ in O365 to Prevent Email Spoofing?

I've installed Exchange Online using PowerShell, and I'm trying to figure out if I'm able to enable the 'reject direct send' feature for our account. This email spoofing problem has been a headache for about two weeks now, and I'm the only one in my department tackling this issue. Can anyone provide me with some guidance on how to determine if I can enable the feature, and if so, could you share the steps I need to take to get this resolved ASAP? Thanks!

It's going to depend on your mail setup, like whether you’re using a smart host for scanning or if there are other Exchange Online tenants dependent on direct send. You might want to explore those configurations closely before making any changes.

I've been in your shoes, with urgent spoofing issues as the solo admin. Often, those direct sending problems come from old apps or devices that aren’t immediately obvious, so check for any hidden dependencies that might cause issues down the line.

You should clarify what exactly is being spoofed. Is it emails going to specific recipients? A good portion of these spoofing issues can actually be handled with correct DMARC, DKIM, and SPF records, so make sure those are properly set.
