This morning while I was browsing online, my PC just shut down unexpectedly. It went completely dark with no signal or response at all. When I press the power button, nothing happens—not even a light. I'm guessing it might be the power supply unit (PSU), but I'm not entirely sure.

It could definitely be the PSU or possibly the motherboard. One way to check is by using a multimeter to test the PSU. If you have some spare fans or devices with SATA connectors, you can try jumping the PSU to see if it powers up with them connected.
I've had similar issues before, and sometimes it's just the power cord to the PSU that's loose. Make sure everything is pushed in properly, including all your cables. It could save you from buying new parts!
