Should I Wait to Buy a GPU or Keep the One I Just Got?

Hey everyone! I'm in the process of building my first PC and I've just purchased a Gigabyte Windforce SFF 5070ti. I've heard that NVIDIA might be lowering prices on their GPUs soon, and I'm wondering if I should return my card or stick with it. I was planning to return it anyway because I found out about the thermal putty leaks. Any advice?

The 5070 is one of the top-selling NVIDIA cards, so I'm skeptical they'll drop the price much.

I'd say just keep your card. There's always something better on the horizon, and waiting just brings more uncertainty. You might be hoping for more VRAM or a price cut, but look what happened with the last 50 series launch—it could get messy with prices.

I've been hearing some buzz about a potential price drop in the near future, but honestly, it’s hard to say for sure when or if it will happen.

You could keep waiting for whatever's next, but you'll be without a card for longer. If a price drop does happen, it might only be $50 or $100 off. Plus, the quality issues you've read about may have been exaggerated for the newer models. Just make sure to research!

Honestly, there's never a perfect time to buy. You can wait months, and then a new model will come out, plus the prices will change again. Right now, I’m leaning towards getting something like a 9060 16GB or a 9070xt based on my budget, since they seem to offer better value for the time being.

It really depends on what you paid for it. How much did you spend on your 5070ti?

I ended up paying around $800 after tax.
