Hey everyone! I'm about to build my first PC and I have a CPU budget of around €200. I'm caught between the Ryzen 5 7600X and the Ryzen 7 7700 (tray version). I'm curious if investing in the 7700 is worth it or if I should stick to the 7600X. Any advice? Thanks a bunch!

The 7700 shines if you're doing more than just gaming, like video editing or rendering, thanks to its 8 cores compared to the 6 in the 7600X. That said, they perform quite similarly in gaming, with only minor differences. If you're focusing solely on gaming, the 7600X or its 9600X cousin would be great. But for a mix of gaming and productivity, I'd lean toward the 7700.
What’s your total budget for the build, and where are you located? That way, we can help you put together a balanced setup that fits your needs.
When you mention 'risking' the 7700, just know that the tray (or OEM) version is a solid choice. It comes with a full warranty, even if there's no box. The only thing to keep in mind is that you need to grab your own cooler since it doesn't come with one. If the price is right, the 7700 is definitely a better performer than the 7600X.
But doesn't AMD not offer a warranty on tray CPUs?
That's a good point! I've seen some games starting to recommend 8-core CPUs, so if prices are similar, the 7700 might be the smarter choice.
