Hey everyone! I'm trying to decide on a CPU for my new build and I'm torn between three options: Ryzen 5 9600X, Ryzen 7 7700X, and Ryzen 7 7800X3D. My main use will be gaming, specifically for titles like Battlefield, Call of Duty, and Counterstrike. Any insights or recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

I'd say the 7800X3D is the best choice here. It's the most powerful option and offers great performance, especially for gaming. Just keep in mind it comes with a higher price tag. If you're looking for maximum performance, it's worth it!

Can you explain why you think it's worth the price jump? I've heard mixed opinions on that.

Honestly, if you're shooting for 1440p or 4K gaming, the 9600X might be enough. Just keep in mind, if you do any content creation, then the extra cores in the 7700X might be beneficial. In 1080p gaming, the 7800X3D might give you some extra FPS, but at a significant price increase. Just make sure to look at benchmarks to compare how these CPUs perform with the GPU you’re considering (like the 9070XT).

I’m definitely going with the 9070XT and primarily playing at 1440p. Does that change your suggestion?

If you're mainly gaming, you might want to consider the 9600X for a budget-friendly option, or splurge on the 7800X3D for better performance. The 7700X is also decent, especially if you plan on doing some productivity tasks like video editing alongside gaming. Just remember, if you're gaming at 1440p or 4K, the difference might not be huge. For high refresh rates in competitive games, the 7800X3D could be worth it, but it’s up to you to decide if the cost matters!
