Hey everyone, I have a quick question about the performance differences between the 4070 XT and the 7900 XTX specifically in rasterization at 4K. I've used both cards in the past, and I'm not interested in FSR or ray tracing performance - I'm just curious if there have been any significant changes in raster performance with recent driver updates. Any insights would be appreciated! Thanks!

Definitely lean towards the 4070 XT - it offers better performance in ray tracing and FSR. But remember, I'm only focusing on the raster performance right now.
The latest drivers haven't really changed the game for either card. That video from HardwareUnboxed that stirred all the hype mixed day one data with current benchmarks instead of focusing just on driver updates. Most of the improvements were due to game optimizations rather than hardware changes.
The 7900 XTX really struggles with many modern titles at 4K/60 on ultra settings, and FSR hasn't been impressive either. Performance-wise, the 4070 XT outshines it by quite a bit at 4K, particularly when using FSR for performance gains. It's just a better choice overall for that resolution.
Honestly, they've been pretty close from the start when it comes to average performance. The driver updates probably won't shift the balance much, and it’s really game-dependent. If you want a thorough comparison, you’d need to scour for benchmarks before and after the updates, which could be a bit tricky. If you're looking for overall efficiency and price, the 4070 XT might be the safer pick, especially with its power usage and features, unless you have a specific need for extra VRAM.
I had both cards too, but I'm wondering if driver updates have leveled the playing field at all or if the raster performance gap still exists. From my experience, the XTX usually performed slightly better in the games I played.
