Can I Use Intel XMP RAM with an AMD Processor?

I'm in the process of replacing my PC hardware after bending the socket on my Intel i7-13700KF, which also damaged my motherboard. I'm thinking about switching to an AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D and I want to know if there's any compatibility issue with my Corsair Vengeance RAM that has Intel XMP technology. Additionally, could anyone recommend a good motherboard for gaming?

You can use your RAM, but depending on the timings, you might need to tweak a few settings manually. Some DDR5 kits designed for Intel over 6000MHz can be unstable at the XMP speeds when used with AMD. For best results, try finding the EXPO equivalent timings for your RAM in the BIOS, but if your RAM is 6000MHz or below, enabling XMP might work straight out of the box!

The key factor here is whether you have DDR4 or DDR5 RAM. The Core i7-13700KF supports both, but the AMD 9800X3D is only compatible with AM5 and DDR5 boards. Since you mentioned you're using DDR5, you're on the right track!

Yes, you can use Intel XMP RAM with an AMD processor! Just keep in mind that you'll want to avoid motherboards with the A620 or B840 chipsets for better results.
