Why Is My Monitor Stuck at 24 Hz Instead of 144 Hz?

Hey, everyone! I'm having a bit of a problem with my gaming setup. I recently upgraded to an RTX 3060 (12 GB) and I'm using it with my BenQ Zowie XL2411P monitor, which is supposed to support 1080p at 144 Hz. I've connected the monitor via DisplayPort, but for some reason, both Windows and the NVIDIA Control Panel are only recognizing the monitor at 1080p @ 24 Hz. I can see in the monitor's OSD that it confirms it can run at 144 Hz, but I can't find a way to change the settings. I've tried a different DisplayPort cable, but I'm still stuck at 24 Hz. Can anyone help me figure out how to unlock the full 144 Hz refresh rate?

Is this a new setup or did it work fine before? If you’ve tried different DisplayPort cables, have you also checked other ports? Make sure your drivers are up-to-date; you might want to use DDU to uninstall your NVIDIA drivers in safe mode and then reinstall them cleanly. That fixed similar issues for many others!

I had used a 1050 Ti with the same monitor for years with no issues. It sometimes acted up but always recovered after a few days. Just upgraded to the 3060 and now I can’t switch to 144 Hz. I haven’t used DDU yet. Should I definitely try that?
