Why is my GPU running hotter after changing cases, and should I upgrade?

Hey everyone! I recently rebuilt my PC using the ThermalTake The Tower 300 case, and I've noticed that my ASUS TUF RTX 3080 OC runs hotter now—around 85°C when gaming in open-world titles. It used to sit horizontally in my old Matrexx 55 case, but now it's mounted vertically, and I'm thinking that might be contributing to the higher temps. I've already tried undervolting and have made sure there's proper airflow. On top of that, I'm considering whether it's time to upgrade to a more efficient graphics card, like a 5070 Ti triple fan or a used 4080 Super from a reputable local store. Any thoughts?

Honestly, 85°C is pretty acceptable for a card under heavy load, especially if you've ensured it can breathe well. If you're gaming regularly at that temp, I wouldn’t stress too much about it right now, but if you're thinking about an upgrade anyway, it could be a good time to explore your options!

Are you following the same layout as the stock images with the vertical GPU on one side and an AIO cooler exhausting on the other side? It might help to add more intake fans if there’s space. I’ve seen the Matrexx 55 has better airflow, so this change might be affecting cooling too.

I used the glass-paneled Matrexx 55 before, and I wanted to avoid too much mesh since I have a cat that likes to rub against everything! I can only fit a low-profile fan in front of the GPU.

Do you have any exhaust fans installed in your new case? Proper airflow is super important for cooling, especially with a vertical GPU setup. Just checking if the airflow is working for you!

Yeah, I have two 140MM fans exhausting from the top and a 120MM intake fan on the PSU shield to help create a chimney effect.
