Best Linux Distro for My Old Vaio Laptop?

Hey everyone! I'm relatively new to Linux and looking for some advice. I have a Vaio laptop (model pcg-61b11u) running Windows 10 right now. I want to switch to Linux, but I'm not sure which distro would work best for my device. I need it to be able to handle some light gaming and run applications like GIMP and DaVinci Resolve. I was considering Bazzite, but I'm worried it might not be suitable for my specs. Any recommendations or insights would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Check out the distro selection page from the wiki for a good start! Also, consider searching for more about different distros on the forum. Just remember to keep your data backed up and test things out in a virtual machine before you dive in completely!

You might want to try EndeavorOS. It's a KDE Plasma distro that runs really smoothly on older hardware. I’ve used it on machines with similar specs to your Vaio and it only uses around 1GB of RAM and very little CPU at rest, so it's a solid choice for performance without overloading your system.

Based on your laptop's specs—AMD E-240 processor, 2GB RAM, and the AMD Radeon HD 6310—I'd say your gaming options are pretty limited. Unless you're just into super light games like chess or solitaire, it might be a challenge. A lot of folks suggest Linux Mint for newbies, so maybe give that a shot. Just remember to create a bootable USB to test a couple of distros to see what feels right for you.
