Hey there! I'm reaching out for some help regarding the installation of a second M.2 SSD in my PC. I currently have an Asus B450-F motherboard with a Samsung 970 Evo Plus (500 GB) installed in the top M.2 slot. I recently purchased a Samsung 990 Pro (2 TB) for additional storage since my 970 is nearly full. My main question is whether it's okay to move the 970 Evo Plus to the lower M.2 slot and install the 990 Pro in the top slot instead. I'm mainly doing this for aesthetic reasons because the top slot is more visible, and I prefer the look of the 990 Pro. If I move the SSD, will I need to do anything to ensure my PC recognizes the 970? Also, if I install the 990 Pro in the lower slot first, can I switch them later? Thanks for any insight you can provide!

You shouldn't have any issues moving your SSDs around. Generally, the slot closest to the CPU tends to be the fastest, but honestly, the speed differences are pretty negligible for regular use. You probably won't notice any slowdown in day-to-day operation. Just make sure everything is seated properly, and you should be good to go!

Would it be better to keep the 970 in the fastest slot? Since it's your boot drive, it might benefit from that performance boost.
