Help Needed: Building My First Gaming PC After Buying a Graphics Card

Asked By EpicGamer1994 On

I recently jumped into PC gaming by purchasing a Radeon 9070 XT graphics card through a Newegg bundle, which also included a Corsair RM750x power supply. However, I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed because I don't really know what additional components I need to buy to complete my gaming PC. My budget for the rest of the parts is around $800, but I'm open to spending a bit more if it means better quality. Ideally, I want something that can run modern games at max settings and remain relevant for a couple of years without needing another upgrade. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated! Thanks for your help, and I hope you're all having a great day!

I’m not sure if the 750W power supply is really sufficient for your setup. You might want to consider an upgrade just to be safe.

Actually, Sapphire suggests a 750W PSU for this card, and Corsair's RM series is excellent quality, so you should be fine.

It's wild seeing people snag cards like this. Meanwhile, the rest of us who are desperately in need are still chasing GPUs!

Honestly, you could go for something like a Ryzen 5 7600x or 9700x, with a decent B650/B850 motherboard. Make sure to get 32GB of 6000MHz CL30 RAM and a 1-2TB NVMe SSD. Lastly, pick a case that you love, and you’re good to go!

Quick question: Does the memory speed (like CL30) actually make a noticeable difference with those CPUs for everyday gaming?

If you can stretch your budget to around $900, I’ve got a solid build suggestion for you. Here’s a breakdown:

- **CPU**: AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D (around $399)
- **Cooler**: Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE (about $34.90)
- **Motherboard**: ASRock B650M PG Lightning Wifi (around $119.99)
- **Memory**: 32GB of DDR5-6000 CL30 (approximately $84.97)
- **Storage**: 2TB NVMe SSD (about $109.99)
- **Case**: Cooler Master Elite 301 Lite (around $54.99)
- **Power Supply**: Thermaltake Toughpower GF A3 Snow 850W (about $99.99)

This totals up to about $903.83. Definitely a great setup for gaming at high settings!

This list looks fantastic! Just a heads up though, your current power supply might be enough, depending on your usage.

I think you could trim it down a bit by going for a Ryzen 5 7600x instead and save some cash. The 9070XT is solid, so I wouldn’t go for an ultra high-end CPU unless you really need it.
