I'm building a gaming PC, and I've chosen the Ryzen 9600x for my CPU. My friend suggested going with the RTX 5070 as it's a solid all-around choice. However, I'm wondering if the 5070 might be overdoing it for esports games that don't heavily rely on graphics. I plan to be gaming mostly at 1080p or 1440p. Are there any cheaper alternatives that would still give me good performance, especially for CPU-heavy games? I'm looking for some advice or suggestions without needing links, just some community insight. Thanks!

If you're playing CS2, you might want to consider spending a bit more on a CPU like the X3D series. They typically offer better low-frame performance, which can make a difference in competitive play.
The 5070 is good for esports, but if you want to save some cash, the 9060XT or 5070 Ti with 16GB could also serve you well. Still, I'd lean towards the 5070 or 9070 for better performance overall.
Just a heads up, there's no CPU called the 9600 XT. You probably meant the Ryzen 5 9600X? Also, I’d avoid the non-TI 5070—it doesn't give you much value at 12GB VRAM.
Oops, you’re right! I mixed that up. But isn’t 12GB VRAM generally okay for 1080p gaming?
Think about gaming down the road! Buying a GPU that can keep up in 5 years is a smart move. The 5070 might seem overkill now, but you’ll appreciate that investment later.
I get that, but the 7800X3D is pretty pricey where I live. I might upgrade in the future if needed.
