Why Does My PS5 Keep Losing HDMI Connection?

Hey everyone, I'm having some trouble with my PS5's HDMI connection. It connects to the TV just fine at first and I can hear sound, but then it cycles through different signal formats before finally saying there's no connection. Interestingly, switching to a different HDMI port seems to help temporarily. I'm wondering if my HDMI cable needs to be replaced, or if there's another issue at play here?

It could be either a faulty HDMI cable or issues with the HDMI ports. I suggest trying a different cable if you have one or connecting your PS5 to a different TV to rule out the console’s HDMI port. Just be careful, as you don’t want to end up needing to replace your PlayStation!

I only have the one TV. It has three ports and switching worked for a bit, but it just cycled through signals again and lost the picture.

You might want to consider that if your PS5 is the oldest device connected to the TV, the cable could indeed be wearing out compared to the others. It might be time for a replacement!

It sounds like you might be dealing with a bad HDMI cable. Make sure you're using a proper HDMI 2.1 cable. Sometimes, using a cheaper cable can cause issues. Are you using the original cable that came with the PS5, or is it something from a store?

I’m using the original HDMI cable, actually. No cheap stuff here!
