Why are my devices not charging in my room?

I've run into a weird issue with the outlets in my room. I tried charging my phone today, but it wouldn't charge no matter what I tried. I switched between two different converters and three different charging cords. My laptop wouldn't charge either. My iPad, which had been charging fine, also wouldn't start charging again after I unplugged it to test one of the cords. Meanwhile, other appliances plugged into the same outlet work perfectly. Could this indicate a breaker issue?

You might want to unplug everything else to avoid any damage. It sounds like you could be dealing with a low voltage or brownout situation. You could try cycling the breaker, but it's best to use a multimeter to check the outlets for any issues.

Also, are the devices that charge using 3-prong plugs while the ones that won’t charge are 2-prong? This might be an issue with an open neutral wire, which could be sending current through the ground wire instead. Try testing other circuits in your house to see if they behave the same way. If they do, there might be a bigger issue, and you should have a pro check it out ASAP.

Definitely check your circuit breakers. It’s usually a good first step.
