I'm planning to build a new PC and I want your opinions on my part list. I've excluded a GPU since I'll be using my RX 7900 XT for now. It's been a while since I last built a PC, so I'd love to get your feedback on any potential issues or better alternatives. I'm sticking with an AMD CPU and selected my case to accommodate future GPU lengths. While I don't have a strict budget, I'm also not looking to overspend, and I'm not interested in RGB lighting, which helps keep costs down. Here's my PCPartPicker list:
- **CPU:** AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D 4.3 GHz 16-Core Processor - $699.00
- **CPU Cooler:** Noctua NH-D15 G2 - $179.95
- **Motherboard:** MSI MAG X870 TOMAHAWK WIFI - $286.10
- **Memory:** Corsair Vengeance 64 GB DDR5-5200 - $139.99
- **Storage:** Western Digital WD_Black SN850X 2 TB NVME SSD - $141.07
- **Case:** Fractal Design Torrent - $204.99
- **Power Supply:** MSI MAG A1000GL 1000 W 80+ Gold - $149.99
- **Total:** $1801.09

Have you considered if your workloads will utilize more cores? For just gaming, the 9800X3D would actually perform better, plus it's cheaper! Also, the Montech Century II 1050W PSU is a great budget option and offers higher quality. Plus, DDR5-6000 CL30 RAM could give you much better performance for your money. Just some tips to help optimize your build!
The 9950X3D is an odd choice for most gamers. For gaming, the AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D might be a better bet and could save you some money too. Also, do you really need 64GB of RAM? 32GB is usually plenty for gaming, and your current choice is a bit slow. You might also consider less expensive components, like the Thermalright Phantom Spirit for cooling, which performs nearly as well as the Noctua but at a fraction of the cost.
