Do I Need a Fresh Windows Install When Upgrading from Intel to AMD?

Hey everyone! I'm putting together a new PC with all new components and I'm switching from an Intel 10700KF CPU with a 3070 TI to a Ryzen 7 7800X3D and a Zotac 5070 Ti Solid OC. My plan is to just take my main NVMe drive from my current setup and use it in the new build. I'm wondering if I should do a fresh Windows install. Will moving from Intel to AMD cause any compatibility issues or performance slowdowns due to leftover files? Is a clean install worth it?

You could definitely run into issues if you just drop your old setup's Windows install into your new build after changing all the parts. Old drivers for Intel components might conflict with the new AMD stuff when it connects to the internet. I wouldn’t risk it honestly. I did a fresh install of Windows 11 when I switched to my 7800X3D from a 10700K, and it really helped clear things up and speed up the system.

Yeah, I’d recommend doing a clean install of Windows 11. Just a heads up, you might need a new Windows license too.

Gotcha! I thought the license is tied to the motherboard, so I should be fine for a reinstall.
