Is the RTX 4090 Worth It for FPS Gaming at 1440p?

I'm currently playing Team Fortress 2 on a really old laptop, but I'm planning to upgrade to a new PC soon so I can dive into more FPS games and play Minecraft with shaders. I'm considering whether to invest in an RTX 4090 despite its high price. I've heard some not-so-great things about the 5070 Ti, which is another option I'm trying to avoid. Do you think the 4090 is actually worth it for gaming at 1440p?

If you’re just looking for solid performance, go for the 5070 Ti. The 4090 is way overpriced for standard gaming needs. Unless you have specific pro requirements, it’s just overkill for casual gaming!

Right? You can get great performance with a 5070 Ti without spending a fortune.

Honestly, I don’t think getting a 4090 is necessary for 1440p gaming. At that resolution, most FPS games will be limited by the CPU rather than the GPU. The 5070 Ti is a solid choice too; it costs less and performs about 20-25% lower than the 4090. For most gamers, it’s more than enough!

Exactly! The 5070 Ti will serve you well for FPS games without breaking the bank.

Your choice should also depend on the monitor you have. I play games at 1440p with a 4070 Ti and it runs smoothly even on high settings. The 4090 might not be worth it if you're not looking for 240Hz or high refresh rates. For casual playing, the 5070 Ti sounds perfect!

Honestly, I think asking about the 4090 was a bit unnecessary. Coming from an old laptop, the 5070 Ti should be more than good enough for you! Just jump in and enjoy the upgrade!

Totally agree! You’ll notice a huge difference just with the 5070 Ti!

Why exactly are people saying the 5070 Ti is bad? What's the deal with that?
