Hey everyone! I'm putting together a new PC build and I have a question about compatibility. I'm planning to use an AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D along with the ASUS PRIME B650M-A AX6 WIFI 6 AM5 DDR5 motherboard. Since it has an AM5 socket, I assume it should work, but I'm not certain about BIOS support or if there are any limitations like VRMs or power delivery issues. My main concerns are: 1. Is it plug & play with the 9950X3D, or will I need a BIOS update first? 2. Is the VRM robust enough for a high-end CPU like this? Thanks a lot for any insights!

Honestly, I wouldn't go for that combo. If you're planning to use a Ryzen 9 9950X3D, consider investing in a higher-end motherboard. I would suggest checking out Hardware Unboxed's B650 reviews for more info. Even if it technically works, pairing such an expensive CPU with a budget board just doesn’t make sense.
In short, I wouldn't recommend it. This motherboard might struggle with the 9950X3D since it draws a lot more power than the board can reliably handle. I'm curious though, what are you hoping to achieve with your setup? If you can afford that CPU, you can definitely find a better motherboard option!
It could work, but I've heard the VRM cooling on that board is pretty weak. It might need a BIOS update if your board is old stock, but honestly, why skimp on the motherboard when you’re buying one of the best CPUs? I recommend looking for at least a B850 as it's likely to give you better performance for about the same price.
Hi! I’m based in Argentina, so my options are quite limited. The higher-end boards usually cost a fortune here. I just need something that performs well without breaking the bank, and I want to keep the CPU as is.
