Is it safe to use third-party driver checkers just to see if updates are needed?

I'm curious about the safety of using third-party driver checking programs solely to find out which drivers might need updates. I'm not interested in actually downloading the drivers from those sites, as I've heard they could come with malware. I usually check the manufacturer's website for driver updates directly. However, I'm wondering if it's a good idea to use a program just to notify me when updates are released, so I can go to the manufacturer's site to download them. Is this a reasonable approach, or would I be better off just checking manually? Thanks for any advice!

You might want to think twice about using those third-party driver utilities. They often claim to offer better or newer versions, but they can actually mess up your system instead. It's safest to stick with getting updates directly from the official manufacturer websites or trusted utilities like the Intel Driver & Support Assistant for Intel components.

I get that! So, should I just make it a habit to check the manufacturer’s page regularly for updates? Is there another recommended way to keep track of new drivers?
