Hey everyone! I've got a setup with an RX 6800 and a Ryzen 5 5600G, and I'm currently using a 1080p monitor. I know my CPU might bottleneck my GPU a bit at this resolution. I'm considering upgrading to a 1440p monitor, and I've heard that this could reduce the bottleneck. Will moving to 1440p improve my FPS, especially in demanding games like Elden Ring with max settings and ray tracing? Will I experience better performance, or is it likely to drop my FPS instead?

Keep in mind that going for a higher resolution won’t lessen your CPU usage. Your CPU will still be working as hard, but at 1440p, your GPU will be doing more heavy lifting. So, if at 1080p your CPU's maxed out and your GPU isn't, at 1440p your CPU will still be maxed but now it’s your GPU that’s under stress. You’ll definitely see a drop in FPS when you upgrade.
Generally, switching to a higher resolution like 1440p will result in lower FPS, since it's tougher on your GPU. You can actually test it by setting your game to 1440p and see how your system handles it!
