I'm in the process of upgrading my PC with a new GPU and PSU. I just installed a Corsair RM1000x as my new power supply and I need four PCIe cables for the 12VHPWR adapter. The issue is that the RM1000x only came with three cables, and I noticed that my old Corsair HX850 has compatible PCIe cables according to the Corsair website. However, when I tested them with a multimeter, I got some different readings. Did I misinterpret the compatibility info, or could there be another issue?

Wait, you have an RM1000x and only three cables? That’s odd! Corsair usually has a secondary PCI-E plug to use if you need more power. You might already have what you need without even realizing it! Check Corsair's site for that info too.
What GPU are you fitting in? If it's a powerful one, you might actually not need all four PCIe connections for it to run smoothly. Like, for a lot of modern GPUs, three is often enough – especially if you're using something like a 5080. Just check the specifics on the PSU's output and you'll be good!
It's a 5090, and I plan to undervolt it as much as possible.
You mentioned you have the HX850; is it the Bronze or Platinum model? They have different compatibility with cables. Corsair’s site has a legacy compatibility guide that might help clear that up. Just double-check the model on the old PSU!
It's actually the Platinum model I have. CP-9020138.

Yeah, I got this RM1000x a while ago and didn’t notice they updated the model to include four cables.
