Hey everyone! I recently picked up a 9800X3D CPU and I'm trying to decide if I should keep it or upgrade to the 9950X3D, which costs an extra $180. My main use is live streaming, and I have a 4090 GPU. I'm wondering if the upgrade would give me a longer lifespan or better performance, especially since I can still return the 9800X3D. What do you think?

If you can afford it, I’d say go for the 9950X3D. It’s a fantastic CPU for both gaming and productivity, and for only $180 more, it could make a real difference in performance during those heavier multitasking sessions while streaming.
Keep the 9800X3D! You won’t see a big performance jump for streaming with the 9950X3D. Plus, dual CCDs might not even give you the boost you're hoping for unless you’re pushing heavy loads like Blender or video rendering.
I think it all comes down to what else you've got in your setup. If you’re just livestreaming with the 4090, you should be fine. But if you plan to do more intensive tasks later on, the 9950X3D could be worth the investment.
Honestly, the 9800X3D should be more than enough for gaming and live streaming. The 9950X3D is really more targeted at heavy workload tasks like video editing where those extra cores come into play. Unless you're doing something super demanding, I'd say stick with the 9800X3D.
Yeah, it's mostly gaming and streaming for now, but I do want to keep things future-proof.
