Hey everyone! I was planning to upgrade from my 3600 to a 5700X3D and pair it with a 5070. However, I just found out that the X3D has been discontinued and I can't seem to find it for sale anywhere. I'm wondering if it would be better to upgrade to AM5 to future-proof my system instead. I have the budget for it, but I mainly play games like CS2 and Battlefield at 1080p with 165fps. Also, I'd rather not go for second-hand parts. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Switching to a DDR5 motherboard could also be a great move if you're considering long-term upgrades. It'll help keep your system relevant for the future.
Remember that for FPS games like CS2, the CPU isn’t the most crucial part. You might want to just upgrade your GPU for a better performance boost. That said, if you still want a CPU upgrade, you can find the 5700 or 5800X3D, but those might be pricier. Otherwise, a non-X3D like the 5600 is recommended, as others mentioned.
Honestly, going for a 5600 would be the most cost-effective upgrade since you don’t play anything super demanding. It’ll definitely give you a better experience than the 3600 without breaking the bank.
Yeah, that makes a lot of sense! Sounds like a solid plan.
If you're sticking with the AM4 platform, the 5600 or 5600X is a great choice. It’s an affordable drop-in upgrade and offers a noticeable improvement over the 3600. But if you're open to moving to AM5, consider the 7500F or 7600—they're solid options too!

Yeah, but I heard CS2 relies heavily on the CPU!
