Hey everyone! My son is planning to build a new PC and we're debating between the 5070 and the 5070 Ti. He'll be using an AMD 7800x3d along with the best components we can find. The main question is whether the 5070 will be enough for him to game at 1440p over the next 5 years. He really wants to play AAA titles like God of War: Ragnarok and Cyberpunk, which he's been missing out on thanks to his old Intel build from 5-6 years ago. The prices here in Australia are about $1000 AUD for the 5070 (around $650 USD) and $1500 AUD for the 5070 Ti (roughly $960 USD). What do you guys think?

Honestly, nobody can tell you the future, but given that a lot of current games are demanding a lot more from GPUs, I'd say go for the 5070 Ti if you want to future-proof your son's setup. The 12GB of VRAM in the 5070 might feel inadequate in a few years, especially if games keep pushing the envelope on graphical requirements.
For real, the 5070 Ti is the way to go. The 5070 non-Ti feels like it might not hold up as much in the future due to its 12GB VRAM. You could also explore something like the 9070 or 9070 XT; they outperform the non-Ti 5070 and come with more memory options.
