How Does AMD Compare to NVIDIA for Ray Tracing Right Now?

I'm about to build a high-end PC and am curious about how AMD's graphics cards stack up against NVIDIA's in terms of ray tracing capabilities. I couldn't find any recent information or comparisons, and I'm looking to make an informed decision. My current GPU is a 1060 3GB, which is struggling, and I'd like to upgrade to something that will maximize the potential of my 1440p 165Hz monitor. I've considered the AMD 9070 XT, but I'm also weighing my options with NVIDIA.

Performance-wise, the RX 9070 XT has made improvements and is not too far from the RTX 5070 Ti in some games, but NVIDIA still holds the edge, particularly with path tracing. However, with recent driver updates, AMD isn’t as far behind as before, and they can handle older games really well.

That's true, but it still depends heavily on the game. Some titles like 'Elden Ring' are still more favorable to NVIDIA.

Honestly, NVIDIA still leads when it comes to ray tracing performance and features. They have advantages like DLSS enhancements, which really helps with frame rates in ray-traced games. AMD's 9070 XT can compete a bit, but you generally see a bigger performance drop when ray tracing is enabled compared to NVIDIA.

Yeah, but have you seen the pricing? The 9070 XT is going for about €715, while the 5070 Ti is €870. That's a big difference!
