Upgrading for the 9070 XT: Should I Go All Out or Save Money?

Hey everyone! I'm looking to upgrade for some solid 1440p gaming, especially since I play a lot of competitive shooters. I'm considering going for the 9900X3D, but I'm also trying to figure out if I should keep my current motherboard and save a bit of cash. What's your take on this? Here are my two main options:

1. Build a completely new PC with AM5 support, getting a 9900X3D and 32GB of RAM for around $2500.
2. Stick with my current AM4 motherboard but upgrade to the 5700X3D to save some bucks.

My current setup with the 5700X3D would still include:
- ASUS ROG Strix B450-F GAMING
- Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO DDR4 2933MHz 16GB (Would upgrading to 32GB make a big difference?)
- Cooler Master B500 V2 PSU (Do I need a new one with more power? It's almost 9 years old and I assume 500W won't cut it anymore).

I've been running the numbers, and choosing the second option could save me about $930 since I think I'll need a new PSU anyway. Would love to hear your thoughts!

You're definitely going to need to swap out your power supply. I’d recommend at least a 750W unit, which would run you around $100. Personally, I think the 5700X3D paired with 2x16GB of DDR4-3200 RAM would be a great upgrade for about $350. That setup should be solid for your gaming needs!

Got it, I read that the GPU requires 750W minimum. I'll calculate more on the RAM now, since I'm in Denmark, prices can be a bit higher here.

Those RAM sticks would cost me around $72, so I'd save a total of about $860. This way, I could even get a new monitor! Thinking of that 360Hz OLED Alienware AW2725DF, which fits the budget just right.
