Is 32GB RAM Enough for Gaming and Multitasking?

I'm curious about whether 32GB of RAM is sufficient for gaming, especially since I tend to keep many things running at once. Often, I have multiple games open alongside applications like Discord, Spotify, and Visual Studio Code, not to mention a bunch of browser tabs. Should I be worried about running out of RAM, or is 32GB still a safe bet? Would it be better to upgrade to 64GB just to be safe?

If you like modding in Bethesda games, then definitely look at 64GB. But if that's not your style, 32GB will be fine. It really depends on what you regularly play and how much you're multitasking.

For most uses, especially with a dual monitor setup, 32GB is more than enough. I rarely hit 20GB, even with a modern game, Discord, and a browser open. Just be mindful of games that really push the limits, like heavily modded editions of Minecraft; those might need more.

In my experience, I’ve been gaming on 32GB for over a couple of years. I regularly have a bunch of Chrome tabs open, and it’s handled everything just fine. Most games won’t max out 32GB, although something like BeamNG.drive can get close. If you're worried, maybe consider 48GB, but 32GB usually does the trick.

Yeah, exactly! As long as you're not heavily modding games, 32GB should work perfectly for you.

You should be alright with 32GB. Just so you know, you can find 48GB RAM kits that are not too pricey compared to 64GB ones, which could give you some extra headroom without going all in on 64GB.

Honestly, it also depends on what games you're playing. Flight Simulator can push past 32GB, but most other titles usually won't come close. Upgrading to a 48GB kit could be a good safety net without going overboard.
