I need some advice! A game I was playing on Steam, Dredge, was running perfectly just two days ago, but now it crashes right at startup. I'm not very tech-savvy, but I've used ChatGPT to troubleshoot quite a bit. I've noticed that other games are crashing too, and it's really concerning that everything worked fine just 48 hours ago. Here's what I've tried so far:
- Used DDU to uninstall and then reinstall the Nvidia drivers
- Uninstalled and reinstalled Visual C++ redistributables
- Verified the integrity of the game files
- Uninstalled and reinstalled the game
- Disabled cloud sync and deleted the local save before trying to run it again
- Ran sfc /scannow
- Installed Bitdefender to check for viruses (came back clean)
- Disabled overlays
- Tried running the game as an admin
- Launched the game after turning off all non-Microsoft services
When checking the event viewer, it's showing that the crashes are related to unity player.dll or KERNELBASE.dll. My PC specs are: Acer Predator PH18-72, Nvidia GeForce RTX 4080, Intel Core i9-14900HX. I'm open to any suggestions or if you need more details! So, is it worth considering a factory reset, or should I focus on other troubleshooting methods first?

Factory resetting your PC can be a last resort, but it often isn’t necessary. Since you've tried some solid troubleshooting steps already, I'd recommend focusing on the potential software issues. Have you tried checking for any recent Windows updates that might have caused compatibility issues? Sometimes updates can affect gaming performance. You could also try rolling back your graphics drivers if an update has caused this. A clean install of Windows should be considered if nothing else works, but it can be a hassle.

Good point! It's always great to check for recent updates, especially after major game crashes.
