Is it Worth Upgrading My I3 to an I5 or Building a New System?

I currently have an i3 10100F and am debating whether it's worth upgrading to an i5 10th gen or even an i7 10th gen, or if I should just build a whole new system entirely. I'm considering older Ryzen options like the R5 3600 or R7 2700, especially since my upgrade budget is pretty tight at under $200. I primarily play online games like Dota 2 and have noticed some stuttering even on medium settings. Here are my current specs:
- CPU: i3 10100F
- Motherboard: Gigabyte H410 S2H V3
- RAM: Kingston 8x2 2666MHz DDR
- GPU: RX580 8GB 2048 SP
- Storage: 512GB NVME SSD and 256GB SATA SSD Kingston A400

Upgrading won't give you a huge boost with just a slight CPU change. If you could upgrade to something like a 10600K or 10700K and get a better GPU like a 6600XT or 3060Ti, that could really improve your gaming experience. But honestly, it sounds like your whole system could use a refresh. Instead of going with an older platform, I'd suggest saving up for something better. You can find decent AM4 used builds for around $500-$600 nowadays, or even budget AM5 options around $600 that have integrated graphics to tide you over until you can get a dedicated GPU.

What about a 10400F with a 6600? I found one from a Chinese shop for about $300. I've bought from them before with no issues; plus, it's good to help with e-waste!
