I've got $300 in Amazon credit after returning a purchase, and I'm looking to upgrade my CPU. Currently, I've got a Ryzen 5600X on an AM4 platform paired with an RX6900XT. The 5800X3D seems unavailable now, so should I just grab the next best available option, or is it better to make the switch to AM5?

I think it’s time to make the jump to AM5! You'll probably need to spend an extra $50 to $100, but you can find a decent motherboard for about $150 to $200. The 9600X would be a solid choice and is almost on par with the 5700X3D; plus, the prices are more reasonable now since the 5800X3D is getting pricier.
Definitely consider upgrading to the 5800XT! It was a worthwhile upgrade for me from the 5600X. It might not be as flashy as AM5, but it should give you a nice performance boost.
If you're looking at current options, the 5700X3D might be your best bet, but keep in mind those are usually priced above $300. It’s a solid upgrade from the 5600X if AM5 is a bit steep for your budget.
