Can You Add a PC to Autopilot After Adding It Manually to Entra?

I'm curious about the process of adding a PC to Entra first and then putting it into Autopilot. Normally, you'd add a device to Autopilot first to let it self-join by policy and get enrolled into Intune automatically. But is there a way to reverse this? Specifically, if users have the rights to add a computer to Entra, can we use the Entra console to add that device to Autopilot or apply Autopilot policies to a machine that's already been joined to Entra?

Yes, you can definitely import the hashes for machines enrolled in Entra into Intune. I once had a situation where a device was registered in Autopilot but didn’t show up in Intune, despite having a name assigned. Logging into the device created the Intune entry, but I didn’t get the logo banner during login. After wiping it, I’m now hoping everything comes up correctly after the reboot.

You might find the answer in this Microsoft Learn document about configuring Windows Autopilot profiles. If you don’t add the device to Autopilot first, you can use the Deployment Profiles to convert all targeted devices to Autopilot. But just a heads up, my experience with this wasn’t very smooth. Also, this would fit better in the Intune category than Azure since it’s not directly related to Azure anymore.
