I'm experiencing a weird issue where my wired Ethernet connection seems to provide worse performance than my Wi-Fi when I'm playing video games. My ping spikes to between 100-500 ms on Ethernet, while my home Wi-Fi keeps it stable around 70-80 ms. Does anyone know why this is happening?

What exactly is your Ethernet cable plugged into? If it’s not going directly into your router or modem, that might be causing the slowdown. Sometimes adapters can introduce latency too.
That makes sense! Those powerline adapters can sometimes cause unexpected issues. If you have the option, try connecting the Ethernet cable directly to the router or modem and see if that improves your speed.
Is your Ethernet cable pretty old? Sometimes, cables can wear out and affect your connection speed. If you just got it a few months ago, that shouldn't be an issue, but it's worth checking the cable quality.
I checked, and it’s a newer cable, so that shouldn’t be the problem.
Oh, it’s connected to a power adapter, not directly to the modem.
