I currently have an i7 8700k, 1080 Ti, and 16GB of RAM, and I'm considering an upgrade due to a power surge that damaged most components. I'm looking at possibly getting a 5700X3D and a 9070XT for 1440p gaming, along with upgrading to 32GB of RAM. Do you think this is a good upgrade?

When you mention 'upgrade', are you planning a complete system overhaul or just swapping out parts? Also, what's your budget looking like, and where are you located?
That upgrade path looks solid. Going for AM5 with something like a 7600 or 9600X might be a better choice since the AM4 X3D chips are pretty pricey. You'd still have a mid-high tier system!
Plus, the 7600X is actually 90 Euros cheaper than the 5700X3D, and the 9600X is 50 Euros cheaper. If you're into games like Tarkov, the X3D could definitely give you a boost.
I recently upgraded from a similar setup—had an i5-8600k and 1070, switched to a 7700X and 9060XT for under $1000. Honestly, I think this will hold up for another 8 years for me. I'm enjoying 1080 at 144, and it should work well for 1440 too!
That's exactly what I'm hoping for! I want a system that will last a long time but still deliver great performance.
I'm looking at a whole system upgrade with a budget around 2000 Euros, and I live in Sweden.
