Has anyone here given Windows protected print mode a shot? I recently tested it on some brand-new (2025) enterprise HP printers that support "IPP Everywhere" but ran into a lot of trouble. Basic functions like duplex printing and scanning just didn't work. Is this a common issue, or am I missing something? It feels like Windows protected print mode isn't reliable for most settings.

Yeah, I feel you on that! I really wanted to use it, but after trying it on a bunch of different printers, it's been pretty much the same experience for me. It's frustrating!
Man, IPP really leaves a lot to be desired. If I wanted my $10,000 multi-function printer to behave like it’s from the '90s, I would have used my old HP Laserjet II instead!
Mopria sounds great in theory, but it's more about companies trying to control the market with their own agendas. Microsoft's obsession with reducing drivers seems like it's creating a huge security issue. It’s a mess, and they need to figure this out because their monopoly power only complicates things. If they come into the room when I'm running a meeting on standards, they’d be out the door!

Mopria isn’t just for Windows, though! There are resources showing it works with various platforms. I get that Microsoft’s pushing for a secure way to print is good, but it all needs to actually function properly first.
