I have a Deepcool Matrexx 30 mini tower that comes with a rear fan connected to the PSU. The builder routed the cable behind the GPU, which makes it tricky for me to remove the fan. I really want to take it out, but I'm hesitant about removing the GPU since I've never done that before. I was thinking about turning off the fan, unplugging it from the PSU, and cutting the wire to pull it out, then taping it up to prevent any issues with the motherboard. Is that a good idea?

Cutting the wires isn't the best route if you want to keep the fan; it could ruin it. If you're not familiar with soldering, it's probably better to just remove the GPU, which shouldn't take more than 10 minutes. Plus, new fans are pretty affordable, usually around $10! It's a small investment for avoiding potential issues later on.
