I've got this USB dongle that used to connect a wireless keyboard and mouse. Since my new accessories don't need it and the old ones are broken, I'm curious if there's a way to convert this USB receiver into a general Bluetooth adapter for my PC. I'm not very tech-savvy, so I'm unsure about how feasible this is or if it's possible at all.

Most dongles for wireless keyboards and mice use a proprietary radio frequency instead of Bluetooth. If your USB shows up in the device manager as a Bluetooth device, you might have a chance, but it's likely just tied to the keyboard and mouse, making it unusable for other devices.

Turning that USB into a generic Bluetooth adapter isn’t straightforward, especially for beginners. You’d have to modify both the keyboard and mouse to use Bluetooth standards, and even then, it could end up costing you more than just buying a ready-made Bluetooth keyboard and mouse.

Honestly, you can grab a Bluetooth adapter for around $10. It’s probably a lot easier than trying to convert your old USB receiver.
