Could My PC Be Compromised After Clicking a Suspicious Link?

I accidentally clicked on a sketchy website that quickly downloaded a file (something like .tmp or .tmf), but it's vanished from my downloads folder in a flash. I didn't click on or run the file, so nothing appears to be wrong with my PC—I'm using Windows 11—but I'm feeling a bit uneasy about this. Should I be worried?

Sounds like a close call! If you didn't run the file, your PC might be fine, but it's always smart to double-check. I recommend running a scan with Malwarebytes just to be safe. It’s a solid tool for detecting any potential threats that might sneak in.

Malwarebytes? What is that exactly?

What browser were you using? Also, did you check the downloads tab? Sometimes the file might not show up in the usual place, especially if it disappeared quickly.

I was on Brave, and I checked the downloads tab, but it’s not there either.
