Looking for a Budget GPU That Doesn’t Need Extra Power

Hey everyone! I'm on the hunt for a graphics card that won't break the bank and doesn't require external power—just a connection from the PCIe slot. Ideally, I'd like something with at least 8GB of VRAM, but I can settle for 6GB if needed. This is for a budget office PC built around an i5 10400. Any recommendations? Thanks!

Honestly, if this is just for office tasks, have you thought about sticking with the onboard graphics from your CPU? Might be more than enough for what you need.

Just keep in mind, if you actually need 8GB of VRAM, running anything demanding on a low-wattage card like that might not give you the experience you're hoping for.

If you're considering options, you might look into adapting from a SATA to a 6-pin setup for extra choices. Use it with a low-power GPU, and it could work. Plus, investing in a good-quality power supply can be beneficial long-term.

That’s an interesting idea! I’ll think about upgrading the power supply too.

Yeah, it's really a good investment! A solid PSU can last you across multiple builds.

Check out the Radeon Pro WX 5100. It has 8GB of VRAM and runs off the PCIe slot. It’s older, but worth considering. Alternatively, there's the Intel ARC A380 which has 6GB and works well with PCIe too!

The best bet you have is the RTX 3050 with 6GB of VRAM; it runs purely off the PCIe slot. Just a heads up, it's tough to find an 8GB card that doesn’t need extra power. Some professional GPUs might fit the bill, but for consumer-level options, you're pretty limited.

Thanks for the info! I'll check it out!

Yeah, the 3050 is solid, but just remember, don't set your hopes too high on performance per dollar.
