Best CPU Upgrade Options for Gaming?

Hey everyone! I built my gaming PC way back in 2017, opting for a 7600k CPU along with a 1080 GPU. The GPU is still performing decently, but my 4-core CPU tends to run at 100% usage during gameplay. I'm thinking about upgrading both my motherboard and CPU. I live in Canada, so prices will vary, but I'm looking at these options: the 12600k for 206 CAD, the 12700k for 300 CAD, the Ryzen 7600x for 240 CAD, and the Ryzen 9600x for 285 CAD. I'd like to keep costs low while maximizing performance, so any advice or other recommendations would be awesome!

If you're mainly gaming, I'd lean towards the Ryzen 7600X. It’s efficient and offers great performance with solid future upgrade paths.

For the best bang for your buck, the Ryzen 7600X is a safe bet. Plus, with the AM5 platform, you can easily upgrade the CPU later without needing a new motherboard.

Also, don't forget the overall platform costs! Intel can sometimes be cheaper because it works with both DDR4 and DDR5, giving you options if you want to keep your existing RAM. Like, the Intel 14600K is a good pick and pretty affordable too.

Thanks for the tip! I didn’t realize the 14600K was so cheap while still being powerful. Might have to look into that!

Definitely consider the 7600X, it's great! Just remember, if you're looking for something more future-proof, AMD's x3d CPUs are worth checking out, but the 1080 might start showing its age soon.
