I'm considering a factory reset of my PC through the Settings menu (Update & Security > Recovery > Reset this PC) and I'm wondering whether I need to have a Windows 10 CD-Key ready for that. Can anyone clarify if it's necessary?

Nope, you don’t need a CD-Key! If your Windows was activated before, the key is usually tied to your hardware or your Microsoft account. When you reset, it should activate automatically without any hassle.
You don’t need to worry about any of that old-school key retrieval stuff! Modern activation is linked to your digital license based on the hardware, so just reset and let it do its thing.
I wouldn't stress about it! The built-in reset feature works fine for most cases. Just make sure everything's backed up, and you’ll be set.
Exactly! The activation should remain intact unless you change your motherboard. In that case, you might have to reactivate it, but for a simple reset, you’re good to go!
Actually, I recommend skipping the built-in factory reset for a fresh install instead. I’ve heard it can cause issues sometimes. Just do a clean install of Windows if you can!
