What should I do after my iPhone 12 got washed in the machine?

I accidentally left my iPhone 12 in my pocket and my grandma tossed it into the washing machine. I'm looking for advice on what steps I can take to potentially fix it at home. I haven't tried putting rice in it, and I'm not really keen on that method. Any suggestions?

Honestly, your phone might be toast. They’re supposed to be water-resistant, but the detergent and stress from the wash could’ve done some serious damage. It’s important not to power it on yet—let it dry for a few days first to avoid shorting anything out.

Yeah, I tried turning it on already. Guess I messed up there. Thanks for the advice!

I'm afraid the other comments are giving you too much hope. If it was in the washing machine, especially with soap, it’s probably time to start thinking about a new phone.

I guess that's realistic. Quick question, though—can I still save my SIM card?

Seriously, don’t even attempt to turn it on until it's dried for at least 48 hours. If it does power up fine afterward, you're in luck. If not, you'll likely need a repair service for it.

I get it. Is there anything I can try at home in the meantime? Also, I already tried turning it on a few times... Oops.
